Dr. Derek Bates brings a strong blend of experience, skill, and compassion to his work as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Originally from Calgary, Alberta, he’s excited to make Lincoln home and serve the community with the kind of care that puts patients first.
He began his training at the University of Detroit Mercy, where he earned his dental degree and graduated with honors in oral and maxillofacial surgery. From there, he went on to complete six years of medical and surgical training at the Mayo Clinic, one of the most respected programs in the world. His time there shaped the way he practices today—with precision, curiosity, and a deep respect for every patient’s story.
Dr. Bates focuses on procedures like dental implants, jaw surgery, TMJ treatment, facial trauma, and in-office anesthesia. He finds the greatest reward in helping people feel better, both physically and emotionally. He takes his time to explain every step, answer questions, and guide patients through treatments with clarity and confidence.
